Organised by the Caring SG Commuters Committee, the Caring Commuter Week is an annual event which aims to foster a more caring commuting culture in Singapore.
This year, from 5 to 10 November 2023, the CARA and CREST teams partnered with SBS Transit Ltd to be a part of their “Care-in-Transit” roadshow events. We were at Serangoon and Harbourfront MRT stations and Boon Lay interchange to share with members of the public on how they can help make commuting inclusive for persons with dementia. Besides learning about CARA and dementia-related resources, commuters also had the opportunity to get a glimpse of the frustrations and anxieties a person with dementia may face when travelling on their own, through our Experiencing Dementia in Singapore (EDIS) Virtual Reality headsets.
Members of the public who notice persons with dementia appearing lost can also check if they have a CARA card and scan the card to contact their caregivers.
Amidst the hustle of everyday travels, let’s not forget to look out for those who might seem in need. A small act of kindness may make a significant difference in someone’s journey. Together, let us continue championing inclusivity and kindness in our daily commutes!
