Dementia Singapore’s Inaugural “Our Getai” at Marine Parade

As part of our “Back to the Heartland” initiative, Dementia Singapore launched our inaugural Our Getai outreach event on 21 October 2023 at Marine Parade. The event drew over 250 senior residents and their families from the Marine Parade community, as well as 50,000 viewers watching the livestream online.

Our Getai is designed to rekindle the community spirits in our neighbourhoods and engage residents, especially those in matured estates, such as Marine Parade. In addition, Marine Parade was recently designated as a dementia-friendly community so it was appropriate for us to start the first of our ‘Our Getai’ events here.

The two-hour getai extravaganza unfolded with musical performances and interactive games, all geared towards connecting with the residents of our island’s more matured housing estate. Hosted by the dynamic duo, Hao Hao and Anna Lim, Our Getai at Marine Parade not only entertained but also offered residents and the online viewers valuable insights into dementia resources and how they can be a part of CARA.

We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Guest of Honour, Dr. Chua Ee Chek, Chairperson of WeCare@MarineParade, who not only graced the occasion but also surprised us with an energetic song and dance performance!
